Oak wood. I was on the edge of a swamp and had a weird entrance where you went down a few steps and then back up into the main area. I remember vividly having a cool little chandelier (it was just a lapis block with torches on all sides, but it had that old Minecraft charm, you know?).

A mess of random planks and dirt. No torches.

and my little brother's first house was diamond, and was composed of about 1,000 diamond blocks (He claims that he got them in survival even though he never even went into survival mode a SINGLE time)
