Introduction
--------------------
Hey everyone! Chron here with a little contest idea I whipped up! Inspired by the recently completed League of Story Telling, or LoST, I've formulated a new tournament, this time revolving around poetry, one of my favorite writing mediums. How is this contest going to work, and how do I get involved? Keep reading to learn more!
Contest Outline
-------------------
We start off with 16 competitors, and the first round will be the Qualifying Round, where contestants will get to showcase their skills by presenting a single poem, posted in the forums, addressing a certain topic. You will have a week for this first poem, and the topic will be released whenever we get all 16 members.
Now, here's where it gets interesting.
Round 2+ Details
After the Qualifying Round, based on their performance, the contests will be split into 4 teams of 4 (3 in this case). Each team will have a Team Captain, and the teams will work together to create a piece of poetry that will be posted as a blog on the Team Captain's profile that will address a pre-determined theme.
Each week (approx.), the winning team (as decided by a poll) will score a point. No one will be eliminated. Then, going in to the next challenge, the winning team will get to pick the topic of the next challenge as their prize for winning. We will continue until one team has 3 points, and that team will be the winning team.
Once the winning team has been decided, the team will be split apart, and the winner will be decided in a tournament style, with two sets of two competitors. From there, the contest will end with a grand finale between the two finalists.
An amendment to the last sentence (for Season 1): due to only having teams of 3, an MVP will be chosen by the hosts from the losing teams to participate in the final tourney.

But don't worry, this won't be your conventional tournament: Nobody's going home until the very end. So prepare yourselves for a grueling and exciting competition that will push your penmanship to the limits!
How Do I Join?
--------------------
Quite simple, actually. Just state in the thread that you're interested, and the first 16 individuals to sign up will be admitted to the contest, and the next 2 will be admitted as Alternates, in case anyone has to drop out. Yes, this does mean that spots are on a first-come-first-serve basis. No spots are reserved for anyone.
Questions?
--------------------
Send me or my co-host, LoST Champion and fellow colleague Pikamoar, a PM, and we'll try to get back with you as soon as we can. I'd prefer if you didn't post questions on the thread in order to keep it more organized.
Anyways, thanks again everyone, and good luck to all the contestants!

A Note For Team Captains
As this is a team-based competition, it is your responsibility to ensure that every member in your team contributes equally to each entry. In the event that one member of the team is unable to contribute to a week's entry, send me a PM. Also, when it comes to your posts, if you feel that it is unclear that each member contributed to your piece, you can send me a PM and break down what each member did. If you do not want this responsibility, send me a PM, and I will have you replaced.
How to Format Entry Titles
(Title): A (Team Name) Creation [FoUND S1 W(whatever week)]
Week 1's Theme
Motivational Poetry: If you've entered this contest, then most likely you've read quite a bit of poetry. It's almost always depressing, isn't it? Well, I want you to change that. Make readers smile with your words. Who knows who you could touch? Your poem can be any style and have any length, and rhyming is not required. What is required, however, is an uplifting aura.
Week 2's Theme
Inside a Ping Pong Ball:
Once again, there's no set format, so have at it!
TormThe idea behind the theme is rather open-ended, allowing the freedom to think either literally, metaphorically, or both. Outside the figurative box as it were, or in this case outside the ball. Thought it might prove interesting.
Once again, there's no set format, so have at it!

Well, this pretty much fell apart. Team Undecided, unrivaled in the third round, is the champion. Congratulations.
Alrighty, after the first week's poll, Team Undecided was the winner!
*applause*
To the other teams, don't get discouraged. It's still only the second week of team competition, and still anybody's game!

Just a reminder that the deadline is tomorrow. Please contact me if you are going to be unable to participate.

Well, there ya have it! The teams have been created and this rumble can truly begin! Also, just so you know, the teams aren't really matched up due to ranking other than the captains. They were randomized a bit.

Oh, another writing contest I'm too late to apply for.
Well, we've hit our deadline and we lack the entries for 4 individuals, which... is perfect actually. The numbers add up in a way that will still work with my mystery contest format, which y'all will discover tomorrow.
Get ready for a poetic throwdown like no other!

It wouldn't be a true blogging competition if I didn't put some kind of depressing twist on it - I don't even know why I do this :p

The plume of smoke bellowed from the fires of hell,
Contorting into just a thin wisp as it hit the wind,
People say that the sky is the limit,
So why am I watching this inferno thin?
The azure seems to constrain us:
Lock us all in and circle the globe,
If the stars supposedly shine for me,
Why do I feel no hope?
The heavens, the paradise, the cosmos,
call it what you will
but I disagree with all of it -
The sky can swirl around us, while we remain stuck-still.
The clouds have more freedom than us,
The wind, the moon, the sun
Why do people adore them,
Whilst they constrict everyone?
The hamartia of the sky is apparent,
It is only bright for 12 hours a day,
and then similar to everyone down here,
it seems to just fade away.

A drop of blood stained the sky,
Tainting the beautiful blue,
The sun retreating from up high,
Down and out of view.
The brilliant red would too fade,
As orchid petals replaced it,
Which also, of course, eventually strayed,
And indigo would be admit.
The sky grew dotted white,
filled with tiny bright diamonds,
Blitzing through the empty night,
From the moon to the horizon.

It's dark
No light, no fear, no nothing
The surroundings were obfuscous
I couldn't see anything.
As I get up and stretch,
I breathe my breath of fire
And the sullen air dies around me
Nothing left of it
Suddenly, an unobscured light
Passes through my translucent curtains
It came from the azure abode of the gods
Their dwelling, the sky.
A faint breeze fully opens my eyes
I look up and see
An alluring blend of colors
I smile and continue on my day
Before I could do so,
A forceful cyclone wooshes me up
Up into the dwelling of the gods
I was scared and the feeling of peace was there at the same time
As I fell, I looked onto the blend of colors
Clouds and flocks of birds soon appeared
And carried me higher
Higher and higher
The heavenly bodies were not so distant now
I could touch them with my bare hands
But,alas, it was not meant to be
The clouds and birds dropped me soon after
Falling again, I realized
The sky is a wonderful thing
Full of colors and things that could make you happy
It's another world
Now, I am facing the dark abyss
Opposite to that of the heavenly sky
Known as earth
I was not far from it
I woke up
Realized it was only a dream
It was time for school
And my mom was calling me
As I exit the house,
I smiled at the sky
And it smiled back
And so my day continues
No light, no fear, no nothing
The surroundings were obfuscous
I couldn't see anything.

not a worry

Tis true I say!

It's faded and boring and plain
filled with bleak drudgery
not a smile

Seems true I hark
the sky is dark
what was once so bright
and loved and happy
now is dark
and cold
and scary
not a chance
not a life
But that's not the end.
The sky is dark, that is true true indeed
but now alight are moons and stars
and red glints from planets like mars
now open, the sky lets fly
it's full splendor of lights in the sky
and who could've guessed such beauty would come from such strife?
Not I, nor you.

Horizons – the divide between two eternities
The tranquillity of oblivion reflected below
Peaceful and serene, the cool breeze blows yonder
Stirring the white caps of cloud and wave alike
For above the glacial beauty of the highest peaks
A realm by which earthly wonders pale
Sun-kissed glory, silver lining epitomised
Untouched by the impurities of land and sea
Divinity itself, such is its transcendence
A shimmering oasis in the desert of forlorn dreams
Mortal eye doth tremble to behold
Above the clouds, eternal enrapture ensconced forevermore

Poem
I looked upon the glorious blue sky,
and I wanted to see the world from afar.
I tried to reach so high,
but I had only reached my downfall.
I listened to the little birds,
filled with awe from how they sang.
I tried to touch them,
but it was all in vain.
I wanted to be up there you see,
I wanted to feel the wind blow.
I tried to go up there you see,
but there was no hope.

There was no way to escape my own mind
as I looked up into the clouds.
I had known there was only a matter of time
before I spoke my true thoughts aloud.
"Is there anyone out there?" I spoke to the sky,
What secrets could those clouds conceal?
Are there aliens or monsters that could possibly fly
and then would make us kneel?
I never felt safe, I was always afraid.
Are we really, actually alone?
I pondered these thoughts as I sat down and prayed
let meetings between species be postponed.
The sky holds secrets, it scares me to think
That they could be here in the space of a blink.
