Well, I am not good with intros, so let's go for it...

I am 100% new to Minecraft and the main reason for going down the rabbit hole is because of my research (PhD student, looking into user-generated content in games).

Started playing in survival mode, solo, just to understand the rules of the game and suddenly I got completely hooked and stopped playing only after 10 hours.

I am oblivious to most of the things that are related to the game, but hopefully I'll get to know more as time goes by. Right now, I am trying to understand where I should start from... play solo in survival mode? Try out creative mode? Experiment with texture packs and mods? I am so lost...

Some of you may already know me, as I contacted a few members to discuss about my work.

Either way, that's all for now .

Stay at Survival, go to creative to test things out for survival...
when you know how survival works from top to bottom, you can get yourself confused with servers and texture packs...

Hahahaha, survival seems to be my cup of tea indeed, so I'll probably stick to it for the time being. I dislike PvP in general. Even in Dark Souls I was letting people kill me when they were invading me... not a PvP player at all .

I'd like to check some mini-games. I remember that I really enjoyed the various mini-games in LittleBigPlanet. In fact, I mostly played custom made mini-games instead of anything else.

As I said though, I hardly know the rules of the game, so...
