New upload! If you ever wanted to go back to old potion colours, here they are. Particles aren't possible without shaders currently.

    https://www.planetminecraft.com/texture-pack/classic-potion-colors/

It works with almost any pack, so this could be of interest to many people.

Glazed Terracotta! For years I've never really analyzed it as a block because Its ugly and I've never (really) used it. I've realized recently that most of the textures added in 1.12 didn't actually get changed in 1.14. Concrete and Glazed Terracotta for instance only have 1 shade per color (unlike stone, which has dozens). I've realized most of the 1.12 textures don't really fit in with programmer art. In fact, there's evidence to suggest that glazed terracotta might have actually trigged the texture update. So, long story short, how do we remake Glazed Terracotta in the original style? Raise the grain? Dull the colors? Simply make it hardened clay with a border?

blank3times strange how it doesn't just inherently notify. Anyway, you said "they mentioned that when they revealed Vibrant Visuals"; do you know where that was that said? It'd be interested in hearing in verbatim from the horse's mouth.

TimeWarpDrive I forgot to mention you like I am doing now land the post did not count as yours because of the group.
    blank3times2025-04-03 16:08:58
Good question to think about. But 1.12 was indeed JAPPA's first update when they were figuring stuff out. Funnily enough they mentioned that when they revealed Vibrant Visuals. You could probably raise the grain and if you want give it the colours to match your beta wool. If I were to add grain, I'd just draw it all over again with a 1.5 pixel brush or something. I think outside of redstone, the point of glazed clay is the weird shapes and tiling so it's hard to change too much like just adding a border.

Thoughts on the new spawn egg textures? In my opinion, I like the idea of making them more distinguishable. Some eggs have good textures (Enderdragon, creeper) and others just look really wierd (Cat, villager+variants)

I see it as a 'good enough for all the mobs in the creative inventory' set that gives good inspiration for what anyone else could do.

so far, it is good enough

Zetterstrand makes is grand return to Minecraft this week. Were you around for when paintings were originally added to the game?

What's your favourite painting from back then and why? Have you used them often?

I'll go first: Paintings have been in the game for as long as I've known it. I don't use paintings too often, maybe once in a base if I want it feel cozy. Sunset usually fits my build the best space-wise, but my favourite is aztec2 for its general aqua hue feel.
    blank3times2024-05-01 11:52:13
Yeah, Bust's a great one! I just tend to build small and then I realize my space is very limited after the fact.
    ZoeBiz2024-05-01 03:56:05
i always loved using bust as decor, just that single piece of art makes it feel right at home in a rustic living room build nearby a fireplace :D

Despite their advertised 'unique feel', the Trial Chambers' colour scheem actually leaves me nostalgic; Is it just me? What recent features added to the game did this to you or felt like they were there all along? Feel free to reply to this post. =]
    Nosferatu82024-01-20 18:37:37
I rather reach the question from the technical perspective. The trial chambers looks useless. Minecraft is pretty much off road now first the textures now the features not even the silly non realistic stuff is interesting at all. Muh sniffers. Bring back secret friday updates! :D

I'm having a hard time retexturing the hoglins; as they are, they're pretty boring (just large hostile pigs and their color isn't very minecrafty). Ideas on how the texture could be more nether-esk and Unique?
    blank3times2023-11-21 00:45:14
Unfortunately they are just pigs. Maybe you could make the colour more like the greenish-yellow like the back of glowstone? Or you could go to the wiki and Legends has a purple variant for 'outside bastions' which might fit in better for you if you adapt the colours.

Also if you go to the wiki there's screenshots of when the hoglin accidentally had enderman eyes and that adds a bit of character, so maybe if you made the eyes orange or something (like shroomlights) that would add some character.

Some basic ideas. I haven't done the hoglin yet and some back-and-forth would also let me figure out what I want to do with the hoglin so I'm down to do that. I gave some colour ideas, but you said the original isn't Minecrafty and I'd like to know what about it makes it not Minecrafty and what would make something more minecrafty so I can help point you in those directions. =]

so the pack im making adds double slabs for all the programmer art blocks. ive gotten everything figured out except for mossy cobble; im completely stumped on what to do. im thinking of adding a grass layer on top so its some wierd cobble terrain thing, but its not the best. Any good ideas for what it should be? please comment

    TimeWarpDrive2025-04-03 11:29:08
Make regular mossy cobble the bright green from before beta 1.8 and the doubleslab should be the beta 1.8+ style of dull moss that jappa went for with the mossy cobble redesign

Maybe you signing on will magically fix it.

UPDATE: Now it's on the main page but not the collections page; maybe we just wait.

Before 1.18, I had a favourite seed to just input, which was an ice spikes spawn I had found with my friend by chance. I was a creative mode player, and the first time I played it fully I heard you can make a village just by having homes. (I don't remember how the door policy from back then worked) I went around hollowing out the spikes and adding birch doors to make it look nice. I tried to make the homes look nice and be spacious. I travelled really far and never got a villager, and sometimes lost track of the spikes.
Later on, I'd do peaceful survival worlds just gathering resources to build a nice home out of a particularly large cluster of spikes. I've gotten pretty far, but I wouldn't play on these for too long. I would usually have them on another computer or not update them to the next version and start anew.
I don't know what become of the seed after worldgen was overhauled, and while it's not my most nostalgic seed (my most nostalgic one I stopped using which makes it more nostalgia and less current), I used it a ton. Did you have a favourite world or seed, maybe one you used repeatedly?

I just remembered a funny world I had from a super old version of pocket edition. It was the version before they added minecarts. I had a survival world with a wooden block for a house on the edge of the world (that was a thing) and I trapped two animals inside. All I recall is that the cow was named Manny and the sheep was dyed light blue. I had two bridges that went opposite ways over the ocean connecting to larger piece of land. The left side led to 'Creeper Island' because I found five creepers there once and it freaked me out. The other side did not have a name and I did not go often.
Resources were very scarce in this version, you were super lucky to find lava or mushrooms in a world. I only ever found enough diamonds for a sword and a pick, and once they broke that would be it for a long time. I only explored half of the world, it was a strange seed with a large ocean in the center and the only terrain hugging the world border. One side had steep cliffs, behind Creeper Island. I had an incredibly crude mob farm next to my house. Low to the ground and far too cramped, the pathetic thing never worked, but I would sit for minutes at a time and hope a zombie would fall down.
This was just a random memory I had, probably my favorite world when I was a little kid. I used to have old recordings of me playing on it but they are long gone. If you have any stories of your own like this it would be fun to share. If your a group member feel obliged to make a seperate post.

I just uploaded some pump and dump birch prog packs to the group. A little scummy, I know, but I wanted some legs for the group to stand on for the time being. The actual project I will probably begin is a programmer themed CIT pack for both items and models, since I have yet to see one for even the default art style (in the model department at least). I will probably update it in chunks so an early version should be out eventually. Hope you all enjoy!

When were you first exposed to Minecraft? The fondest memories I have were those spent playing Minecraft Classic during middle school after hearing about it from some friends online. At the time the game was in Alpha, but many hours were wasted building neat structures and painstakingly creating schematics from graphing paper during free periods in school from everything ranging to skyscrapers and space ships. The idea of a game like Minecraft at the time was incredible, and I especially recall trying a few of the knock-offs on the Xbox 360 (CastleMinerZ, Total Miner Forge, etc.) when I wasn't able to play at home on my old PC -- this was before Minecraft Bedrock Edition mind you. tag_faces

Stampy was my biggest influence, still see and play the game the way I do thanks to him. All the respect for him keeping it PG despite being only 14 I think(?). There is no way I could have done that, I have such a sailor's mouth.

man, I good friend of mine told my about the game, I played it on my dad's iPhone when it was in alpha phase!
