DnD is a tabletop role-playing game created in the 70s (1974 if we want to be nerds about it lmao) generally people would roll characters and play a role-playing adventure controlled by the DM (think of the DM as the storyteller who will explain the effects of the actions the players just made as well as create the plot for the campaign) its a party game which means you can play with at least 2 people (3-4 is the smallest size most people play with though)
