    (This title is just that, a title! You do not have to stick to a Halloween theme.)

    One Texture at a Time is a friendly resource pack jam that asks participants to modify a single texture. This means anything under the 'textures' folder in Minecraft's assets folder. However! There are some frequently asked questions, so here are some answers, exceptions, and DONT'S!
    • Texture Sets — For consistency's sake, you are allowed to tweak multiple textures if they pertain to ONE BLOCK or one particle set. (Every side of a furnace, every individual cherry leaf particle - keep in mind this means, one block, not a block type. Not every type of quartz, not every type of tuff.)
    • Items and Blocks — If you tweak a block, you can also edit its item texture, if it has both. This will actually score you additional points in the final category of the rating system!
    • DO NOT's — Armor does NOT count as one set; you can tweak just one of the pieces. When editing GUI files try to stick to one of the image files, however, if it cannot be avoided, and you want something to be consistent in your texture, you may change multiple textures across varying files. Do NOT submit variated textures. While accepted prior, this is objectively multiple textures for multiple textures' sake, and generates interest through variation rather than a clever idea.
    With the frequently asked questions out of the way, here are some minor clarifications on the additional content rating, how your pack should be formatted, and some examples of what you should be seeking to create.
    • Resource Pack Format — Your pack must clearly state what version it is compatible with, both update and either Java or Bedrock; the most recent update on Java is preferable. They CANNOT require Optifine, or any other modification to run; it must be ENTIRELY VANILLA COMPATIBLE. When uploading your pack, please keep in mind this is about one single tweak, so remove the clutter! Any unused files can be deleted.
    • 'Additional' Rating Criteria — For the final criteria in which you may score points, the following are applicable: you may change sounds to better fit your texture change. You may change text to rename whatever you've tweaked, and you may score points if you've had to edit multiple textures if your block had multiple sides, or you've overhauled a portion of the GUI. — However, these points are given less generously; your extra textures must be of substance!
    • Models — You may tweak the model of a vanilla texture, so long as it remains vanilla compatible. If you stray too far from the vanilla look of Minecraft, changing the model may become a detriment!
    • Inspiration — Ultimately, what you're looking to create is something that feels like vanilla Minecraft, but adds something of substance, entirely through texture work! This seems difficult, but it's been done before. These are from prior competitions and are not in any way our own. Feel free to click the colored text, they'll bring you to their pages..     If any of these rules or specifications aren't followed, you may be disqualified/rated lower, and can resubmit with fixes or a new pack entirely. But someone rarely breaks the rules.
