FAQs

Festival

Where/how will the festival take place?
The Festival will take place on a Java version 1.21.5 Minecraft server. The Festival Staff will compile the festival map and server using community creations submitted in this and upcoming preparation-jams.
Wait, I'm confused, what season are we doing?
We're preparing for fall/autumn! So think orange, red, falling leaves and pumpkins. Cozy vibe, cool weather, mushrooms and hedgehogs.

🍄🍂🎃

We simply start working early!
Will the festival map include all of the submitted builds?
We'll try our best, but unfortunately cannot guarantee that your build will be included. The Festival Staff has the challenging task of bringing builds and assets together in one big map. It is up to them to decide which builds fit right with the theme, layout and other elements.
Is Halloween part of the celebration?
The event will take place in or around spooky season. We're happy to include a few elements that celebrate this time of fall, but the majority of the map will be scare-free!

Building

At what scale should I build?
The festival map will be meant for players to run around in! Meaning builds or assets should be at a scale to be used/explored by a Minecraft player. The exception is decorative/giant props.
Can I build something that has already been built by someone else?
Yes! The prompts are not limited to one builder per prompt. You can build whichever prompt you prefer. (And a maybe another tree! 🌳)
Can I build something that's not on the list?
Yes, you can submit something that isn't on the list. However, make sure to stick to similar themes and uses as the prompts on the list. (Rural, farm, harvest, fall/autumn, festival, celebration, market.) Map submissions that stray too far from the theme may be disqualified.
Should I build on a flat world?
For your buildings and assets to be included in the festival map, they will have to by copy-pasted into a new terrain. So please keep that in mind when building. Building on a flat world will be helpful!
What Minecraft version?
The festival will take place on Java version 1.21.5.
Can I use heads in my build?
Yes, you can use heads to decorate your build or asset. The Festival Staff can import them without trouble!
What kind of download file should I provide?
Map or schematic, whichever works for you best! :)

Ideas

Where can I share my ideas?
You can share ideas on the Planting Season forum thread. Are you bursting with creativity or do you have a bigger vision for the fall festival? In that case you can opt to submit a blog instead.
What kind of blog can I submit?
Please use the Planting Season forum thread for sharing ideas, unless you're prompted to write or draw more!
A blog for this Jam might be:
  • Short story taking place at a fall festival.
  • In-depth description of what your dream PMC fall festival would look like.
  • Art blog, literally painting your picture of the festival. Or the map/layout you imagine.
  • Extensive list of the things you'd associate with a fall celebration.
  • A memory of a fall/harvest fair, festival or celebration you attended.
The goal of blog submissions in this Jam is to set the scene and inspire. Blog submissions with minimal or irrelevant content may be disqualified.
