  • About

Recreate elements (or the entire concept) of Notch's game before Minecraft, RubyDung!

RubyDung was intended, had it been completed, to be a clone of the game "Dwarf Fortress".

Unlike the regular blocky style of Minecraft, RubyDung's tiles had sloped edges, and as the game was in very early testing stages before the project was eventually stopped in favor of Minecraft, at the time known as "Cave Game", the game had only 2 tile types: Grass, and Stone (using the early cobblestone texture). The textures had their colors randomly shifted depending on the tile's position. A tree texture was used in a billboard model along with the rest of the game's tiles being in a isometric style viewing angle. The textures for the Grass and Stone can be found in the terrain.png file for the first known version of Minecraft, rd-131655.
