After a week full of voting and more visual suffering than we expected, we proudly (and slightly fearfully) present the First Place of the Worst Skin Contest:

A skin so magnificently awful, so creatively cursed, that it stood out even among 58 other disasters. This entry embodies the true spirit of what it means to be visually unholy. We couldn’t look away. We tried.

this skin represents the unity of chaos and order, two conepts distinct and opposite yet unified and intertwined.

The Owl is a symbol of wisdom and intelligence, the banner of order that keeps everything together. They scrutinize every detail and have great intuition, being the agents of Athena themselves. The hamster, in conjunction, represents both resilience and the utter monotony of the world as a continuous cycle, constantly running through the same hamster wheel without any progress whatsoever, yet fueled with the determination to keep pushing forward to maintain the constant order.

And yet where there is order, there is also chaos. Even with absolute order, there are numbers that just seem out of place. Things that shouldn’t be where they are. And yet they are. According to the second law of thermodynamics, entropy always increases in an isolated system, Even with absolute order, things will eventually collapse. They will become chaotic and unreasonable, as foretold by nature.The universe, wide and complex with trillions of unforeseen worlds and stars, will eventually succumb into protons flying across an empty abyss.

But we can fight entropy. We can fight chaos and still maintain order, both through resilience and intuition. And this skin is the representation of that. For order and chaos are interlinked in a battle that determines the fate of the universe itself.

And yeah, I understand, although I was unaware of there being arguments happening with war themed jams which is interesting but makes a lot more sense now. It also makes sense if people are getting tired of the arguing but sometimes it's important to point out certain things that may be causing immoral situations and if people don't want to see it, then they can ignore/block it. No one has to argue about anything and it'd probably just be better to ignore and avoid looking at the arguments ^^;

Recently there have been more arguments on pmc due to the increasing war themed jams and AI influence. I think a lot of us are tired of the arguments. Even if we agree we still don't feel like arguing all the time.

Okay, so to clear some things up here, I don't have an issue with the jam or the participants or the jam entries or anything in that related field. The only thing that I've had an issue with is the previous posters use of generative ai to make a skin and claim it as inspiration for the jam. That is the only thing that I have an issue with.
You see, I saw the jam in the popular reel and thought I'd check it out and I saw the wallpost where the poster was talking about how he used generative ai to make the skin. So I decided to ask them some questions about why they decided to use generative ai for a skin they could've made themselves and I informed them that generative ai is harmful because it is harmful. Then multiple people stepped forward and asked me questions and told me their opinions on generative ai and the posters use of the generative ai, so I answered them and replied to them to inform them of why I said those things and generative ai's harmful impacts on everyone and our world.
I also did not join the jam because it is not something I am personally interested in and I am busy with other hobbies irl, but it does not make what I have said any less important.
I understand that you're upset, but calling me a troll and comparing me to 'vegan extremists' as well as claiming that I'm throwing a tantrum isn't okay. I'm not joking about this and I am very very serious when it comes to generative ai. I'm not an extremist because I am not advocating for illegal or violent things or anything else related to those extreme things. My intention isn't to force people to be anti-generative ai or to force my views onto others (as they can just block me or ignore me, plenty of free will there), but to inform them and help them be aware that it is hurting them and everyone else and why they should avoid it even though they do not have to listen to me (and I am well aware of that). Lastly, I am not throwing a tantrum over any of this but if you do not like me because I am pointing out and explaining to people why generative ai is harmful, then feel free to block me.

The hairstyle is common. The face is too.
The color scheme can be randomly generated or taken from skins. Would you say the color scheme is theft?
The body is literally a color just shaded slightly so that's not theft.

If I ask chatgpt to write me a book it is not theft. Chatgpt is programmed to edit and change information. It often merges ideas on 1 topic to create a final product. So it will not send me a direct copy of a book unless I ask for an almost replica.

This would be theft as it is targeted at my skins, once you give it the option of thousands it is unlikely that the gen ai will only merge 2 skins. It will probably find 15 or more and take bits and pieces. The gen ai is also using google and other search engines and will use day to day pictures and then convert it to pixel art.
I assume they used chatgpt or a similar ai. Because there aren't really specifically Minecraft skin AI's

Ye I get it, I misunderstood your viewpoint. I still think if you mix many skins it won't be theft but we wouldn't know where the gen ai got it from so I suppose there is a chance of it being a direct copy. I mean If you use my skin and just change the colors then I would need to be credited but if you take my skin and mix it with another and change the colors I have no problem with that. But I see some people might so I get it.

What you're talking about is inspiration, which is different from theft. Getting inspiration from something means it inspires you to make something similar, not literally taking multiple people's skin and mushing them together. I do not know anyone who does when they decide to take inspiration from someone's skins.
There's also a clear difference between different styles of one skin where it may be of a commonly popular character and mushing together multiple skins to make something incoherent.
And also, nobody is gatekeeping anything. You are free to make whatever you wish as long as you are not blatantly stealing from other creators which is what generative ai is doing and what was done here. Generative ai works the same way it does with someone's art as it does with generating skins where it steals someone's art piece without their consent and knowledge and without crediting them.
Of course I am aware that there's a chance that near copies can be made but 'most creations' do not 'naturally look alike'. And I am also aware that there are people who blatantly steal other people's skins and change maybe a couple things here and there. It's not exactly common for two people to have the same exact skin without someone having stolen it from the other. I have seen it happen where people will steal skins from others and change a couple or maybe a few pixels and then claim it as theirs.
Also, I want to mention the fact that using generative ai to make a skin is not the same thing as creating a skin yourself.
And another thing, if I took someone's mod and ran it through a generative ai without that persons consent or knowledge and having no intention to credit the person for the original all while claiming it was for inspiration and I was just remixing it, I would get moderated for it. Because it's theft and was never my own creation to begin with. Now, if I found the mod inspiring and decided to make my own, I would ask them if that's okay to take inspiration from them and if it was okay, I could take little elements here and there from it to create my own without taking the entire thing and I'd credit the original author of the mod who I was inspired by. Would that be theft? No. I took inspiration and credited the person I was inspired by and used the little elements from their mod with.
Also, you never answered my questions from the reply you just replied to. Cause I'm sure you wouldn't like that either, right? If I just stole your skins and claimed it as inspiration without giving you credit or asking for your consent?

Let me explain.
For Minecraft Specifically the skin format is so small that most creations naturally look alike and Minecraft's modding and skin community has always encouraged remixing, not gatekeeping.
It is an original mix of skins and is therefore not theft.

If I make a skin that is the same style as another it is not theft. There are so many skins it is very difficult to make a skin that doesn't have a near copy. It is mixing skins and is therefore creating a new skin
