As I saw someone say, if it was Jack Black as Steve doing cool stuff in the world of Minecraft, people would generally be fine with it, some put off by the live action, but they had to try and implement a whacky cast of characters and commit war crimes against the art-style of Minecraft. It also feels like one of those movies where they put in moments just for the trailer.
Minecraft animators have had it right for over a decade now. Fan works always seem to outdo corporate works in the modern age. I imagine in response to this trailer, there's a group of them deciding to make their own Minecraft movie, which will probably be better than the actual thing.
If I was younger, I'd be uninterested at least, probably becoming outraged if some MC YouTuber made a video saying the trailer sucked.
