If you wanted to make a typical medieval town I would just google a picture of some of the towns from Bethesda's Oblivion, They were very rustic medieval style cities that were scaled down from full size. I think most of them have roughly 20 or so buildings in a walled community. While its not realistic to what they are suppose to represent, they do look rather nice and if you make it too big its hard to really enjoy looking at it. Like my town which has gotten too big that most people who come to look at it never see more then half of it.

If you've never gotten a single mod to ever install on Minecraft its fair to assume you are not doing it right and it is not the fault of the mods.

Installing user content for Bethesda Games is no more difficult then plug n play to make or install. Minecraft on the other hand does require some knowledge of how things work if the mod starts to get a little complicated. I suggest you read the instructions that game with the mod, or look them up on the internet for very sepcific step by step instructions on how to install it.

Are you making really really big spheres? What kind of diameter we talking?

The very fact that it allows you to make 5, before there is trouble suggests it is a system resource issue, its trying to use more memory then you have available and is thus crashing because of it. If you are running 1.4.1-2 I heard there is memory leaks that need to be patched that might have a hand in it, it might just be your Java not handling large worldedit changes.

Even a monster computer like mine, under java's limitations I still can't copy paste sections over a million cubic blocks without the client crashing on me.

Why not just use that big fountain thing as the city center, layout some basic road plans, the major roads, large enough apart to accomidate things like your first building.
City layout is the hardest part and I found you will end up moving buildings later as you keep growing. I've had move most my buildings around a few times because of layout issues.

But the that circular construction with the waterfall is very nice. That should defently be a city center, or at least one of the major attractions in the city since you seem to already have market stalls around it.

Feel free to check out my city in my signature, I got some good overview pics of my city layout and I use 14x14 grid blocks to calculate how big the city blocks will be and try to build all my buildings according to the 14x14 grids just so they all fit nicely together.

I thought this was the whole point of the PMC Projects section.. Perhaps renaming it to something like Speed Building Contest! Free Sheep!... or something?

If it does it Everytime for the same computer, but works fine from another computer, it is logically the computer that is at fault, I am just going to assume you are running windows, and that windows security has got a bug in its pants and at some point it deduced that minecraft is a terrible threat to its independence and happiness and has labeled it as unsafe.

You will need to go through windows security settings to give permission to minecraft to run, it might also be any internet security program you have running, they are all a little crazy like over protective father who would rather see their children grow up depressed and lonely then let them go outside and play.

If its not that you can always blame Java. Try updating it.

It could be a host of issues. A lighting texture or animation might not work well with your graphics card and isn't supported, issues with Java? a possible modification or plugin that effects the Nether. Try reducing your video options to render distance Tiny, turn particles off and graphics down to Fast, this will tell you if it is a system resource issue or possibly a compatibility issue.

If the wooden axe does not return pos1 and 2 on click you do not have access to worldedit. The most likely culprit is an error in the permissions file. If it is your server and you are set as OP already, this could be as simple as an extra space or a special character like a period or bracket in the wrong place.

I recommend you download a free program used to view Code. there is several out there. I believe the one I use (since i'm not at my home pc at the moment) is a c++ file viewer which will open the file to read it as code as opposed to notepad which will not correctly space out any inconsistancies such as spacing which is the most common issue in permissions file next to the infamous misplaced period.

If you are using this in single player, I would suggest you use Single Player Commands, so long as it is up to date with all current updates and make sure you follow the instructions to a T. the delete the INI file which you can use Win Zip to open and remove from inside the other file is crucially important to making SPC's command work.

Depends on your definition of Modern. The picture you posted of Modern looks more New Age, Artistic then what I would consider Modern, being a typical 20th century middle class home. I for one use both in a lore friendly build style.
My project city is based on real life counter parts such as Cairo Egypt and Rome where you have structures built in the ancient to medieval ages along side current modernized city construction.

Both build styles has their own flavor and are fun to build, I get just as much enjoyment out of designing the interior of an egyptian pyramid or the twisting tunnels of a mayan step pyramid as I do figuring out clever and compact ways to decorate the interior of a somewhat modernized farmhouse living room.

The picture posted above for Modern to me personally looks like an over priced waste of cubic space and appears to be structurely unsound and will probably collapse under a moderate tornado or even mild earthquake.

Check out my project and let me know what you think of my take on a modernized city with ancient monuments.

Think they just need to slow down and add some of the things the player base has been asking for, for a very long time.

Better Boats, Horses, More Blocks (stairs, half blocks of every type).

Why not add these things that have been on almost every players Want List for a year or so and slow down on the new-new stuff? Horses in Vanila is going to be just as exciting as a wraith monster. People will go build horse farms and figure out the best odds of breeding special horses and post videos and pictures of their horse pastures.

Possibly Mojang team is just bored with the old ideas like Horses and Boats because they been talked about so much, they want to do new and exciting stuff we didn't see coming.
