Have you owned a server or more than one before? -
Yes, I've pioneered many server ideas throughout my youth and its helped me to this day. Each has prospered and met a niche, or suited a broad spectrum of needs to ensure players to come on. Almost all have been servers with some form of mods, that I created full installers for to create a comfortable environment for players to join.
What kind of server will you have? (Factions, KitPvP, etc.) -
A successful one
In all honesty however I am probably leaning towards either a modded or heavily pluggin-ed server. I believe that the sandbox element of Minecraft extends far beyond that of just the in game world, and is one of the reasons I still hold a love for the game to this day. You can take ANYTHING out there and recreate it in minecraft through the use of plugins and mods. The realm of possibility is endless and this is what intrigues me.
What ideas do you have for the server? (Must be unique) -
Oh boy do I have ideas, and successful ones at that. I'd much prefer to discuss the ideas in private, preferably over skype, however I'll give you a taste of what it can be. Like I said earlier, minecraft's sandbox elements extend far beyond that of just the in game world. The possibilities are limitless, and I'd like to exploit this to its full extent. The wildest god damn thing. The most unique. To fit a niche, but also keep a large audience and make them come back begging for more. One of the major fallacies of many minecraft servers is that they have no replay value. At a certain point a player has nothing better to do. They get bored. They whine. They leave. Not on my server. I plan on creating a rapidly changing server, moulding, and adapting, with various details I can discuss with you over skype, to keep players engaged and coming in. From that point on, the server expands exponentially, only getting bigger from every point.
Why should I give a server to you and not someone else? -
If you want a small server with a adequate player base, with no goals of expanding or growing out, then by all means, pick anyone else. However, If you want a massive network spanning players from all corners of the globe then I am your man. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a jack of all trades. I have what many others may not, and that is a broad understanding of all things required for a job like this. I go to school for both business and programming. I can market your server, code plugins, create financial plans, do advertisement research, create your advertisements, build contraptions, adapt mods, you name it. Maybe one of the other people applying is better than me at programming. Okay, but can they offer the same business expertise? Marketing research? Creating a stable income from the server? Since highschool I have competed in national competitions and won awards and recognition for my abilities in business and marketing(Can prove over skype). On top of this, I've been an avid programmer and have learned enough basics to tackle near any language. Currently I attend Princeton University with a Major in Computer Science(Currently taking CS201) and a Minor in Business Marketing.
How long will it take for you to complete the server? (An estimate) -
To have a server up and running? A week to two weeks
Too create a player base through marketing and such? Max a month
My class is letting out, I make enough to live from scholarships, and summer is here so I have a LOT of free time. I'll most likely be working on it upwards of 10 hours a day.
Additional info? - I'll have reports created every week or so for you to take a quick glance at progress, whats going on lately, profits, and anything else that comes up. A network is the big leagues, and I believe that together we can create an efficient system to become the biggest and the best of them all. In the end, the idea does not entirely matter and I can do anything. With proper execution that I can foster, I can launch whatever it is that is done into a greatness matched by no other.
Thank you,
Mason.
