I would love concrete slabs too. But Mojang have explicitly said they will never do this, so using other colours is our only hope.
And tbh, on a macro level, the individual texture of a block usually isn't that important.

I really want a blue block set of stairs and slabs. Biggest gap in the block palette.

Stairs and slabs of a deep blue colour (NOT bluey-green).

I honestly think as builders we need to be discussing this more, it's currently the biggest gap in the block palette.

Perhaps this could be a new type of End wood, but tbh, the priority is that they just need to that colour in one way or another.

I suppose for sequels they'd have the Wither, the Elder guardian the arch-illager to have has new antagonists.

And the overarching antagonist of course should be Herobrine. Speaking of him:

They should 100% have an end credit scene with Herobrine staring at them from afar.

And if they have two end credit scenes (like a marvel movie) the other one should be the screen fading to black and you can just hear the End Poem being read out.

I think I'm always more interested in the game than any spinoff movie, so whilst it's not that appealing to me, I'm not too upset either.

For what it's worth though, my ideal Minecraft movie would have been animated, and basically just follow the plot of a regular survival world:

Steve (and Alex) wake up, punch a tree ... and then kill the Enderdragon.

As it's a kids movie, I suppose an NPC villager/Wandering trader and some small animal could tag along with them to tick the comic relief and cuteness quota all kids movies have.

The average Minecraft player can punch an entire tree down with their bare fists.

    I think I'm screwed.

Are you looking for a historically realistic medieval world or like a semi-fantasy place?

Thank you very much. With sunrise being associated with Japan, I thought it would be apt.

I've only ever made European or Japanese towns, but if I'm designing a town from scratch I find 2-3 real life examples and really research them. This isn't just looking at them on the map, this is reading about the history, seeing old photos of how the town changed etc. (And as you're doing a small American settlement, this should be easier as most of them are fairly newish).

This allows you to then plan out how your own town has developed, where old stables, old roads etc. would be. Nearby rivers etc.

I'd make a document somewhere where you write the lore of the town. Whilst you may not have every detail, it may also be good to keep some trivia on some of the former mayors etc. This can help you then if you need to make street names, statues etc.

I'd advise then using the software of Worldpainter to make the geography of it.

The other software I assume you'll have is worldedit. That will allow you to design a stock of buildings you can reuse throughout the town. Find a few buildings on google maps and try and copy their style.

My other tip is that being too boring is itself unrealistic. Humans want to live somewhere atleast mildly interesting, so most towns will have a few landmarks. Obviously for your case, we're not talking about the Eiffel tower or anything, but like, a nearby waterfall or an alleged haunted spot/UFO landing spot.

    Best of luck!

I think it's essential to enjoy what you make, nobody could ever do this for just the fame and glory - besides, there's not much fame or glory to making minecraft maos anyway...
