This didn't help me either i un-installed all my anti-virus softwares to see if they were blocking it but that wasn't the problem (so now i have to download them again) but basically I feel pretty stupid, if you go on the minecraft and press download under the download button it will say alternative download click on that and the download the one for your pc or mac and it should work, it did for me, so hopefully it will work for anybody else.

It keeps doing the same thing for me. I've tried deleting all my minecraft folders and re-installing the game but that didn't work nor did turning on/off my Mac - https://gyazo.com/699f25b1b6f2b28247dc492766a6026f
