MidekeChow did you guys get so good at redstone? Trial and error, or did you watch a million tutorials for other things on youtube, etc, etc?

the best I can do is a sticky piston 'bridge' that goes under lava and when I pull a lever it pushes up for a walkway. (just found out that water completely destroys redstone haha..)

I have only been playing MC for about 2 weeks now and I have selected a new spot for my home(in a mountain because i figure that will be the easiest way to conceal all of the 'wiring'), all tips you can give are greatly appreciated and very much wanted.

Don't worry, when I started minecraft I wasnt good either. Red stone has certain physics that the more you play the more you will understand. My suggestion is to start out, you find a jungle temple and check out the contraption inside of it. You shouldn't look at advanced videos only ones that say they are for beginners. Even now after a few years of playing, I'm still learning more red stone inventions.

You should make something that you are interested in, like based off your favorite tv show or favorite book. If you come up with an idea then have another idea based off of it then keep adding all of your thoughts into the map. Even it doesn't have to do with your original design, if it's better then use it. And you should also make it what your good at. If you are good with red stone then make a series of traps or if you are good at building with tons of detail spend most of your time doing that.
