okay, so, before I begin my rant, just know this is MY opinion, feel free to agree/disagree, it's your opinion. now, let's began.

idk where to begin, idek if I'm allowed to post this here. so TikTok is about to be banned where I am. Joe Biden thought it'd be a good idea to sign the TikTok ban thing, and now the owners of TikTok (BryteDance) have 9 months to sell the TikTok company to some other company. and if they don't, TikTok will be banned. uninstalled from your device,deleted etc.

now, I don't want TikTok to be banned, however, the Chinese won't have any choice. so now the Chinese owners of TikTok (BryteDance) are challenging this into court.

my opinion is that TikTok shouldn't be banned, and that it's not a national security threat. some people think it is. if i missed anything, lmk, and like I said before, this is my opinion. Just giving y'all a heads-up before this post probably gets deleted. and yes, I'm aware we can bypass the ban using VPN. I just don't know how to use VPN, considering that I've never used VPN before.

I can see this side...I don't agree, but I see it.
You see, my stance is that TikTok, which I've never used, but I've seen friends get addicted and do stupid things that are "trendy", is harming the teenage community. I can see other sides, and I can see that not everyone is against TikTok like I am. And that's fine. To each their own.

They steal literally all your data, your search histories, chopping history, private chats, texts, everything. I do believe it should be banned, do to the fact they steal more than they're legally allowed to, and the fact that Tik Tok has been seen to encourage stupid people to be more stupid at my school

…or vigorously enforce the currenmt privacy laws (which would be a good start, although effectively meaningless against companies owned by foreign actors and/or storing data outside the relevant jurisdiction).

i've only observed this whole ordeal in passing, but if it's really for the sake of security, wouldn't it be better to just pass better privacy laws?
