I think since Notch stepped down, and Minecraft Xbox came out, Minecraft has reached its climax. Minecraft is a PC game through and through, and though I admit Minecraft Xbox is a nice toy, console gamers do not get it completely, and with everything having to be moderated by MIcrosoft, there are no mods, no texture packs (soon they will come out, although you will have to pay for them.), and skins that you must pay for!!! I think that people will leave PC for the Xbox as it gains updates, and when a new cool indie game comes out, much of the real Minecraft players will leave, and Minecraft will be the territory of the 11 year old n00bs and assorted diehard fans. Eventually people will forget about it. Though I only signed up when 1.0 came out, I'm not exactly a first or second gen Minecraft player (There are 4 generations of Minecraft players).
1. The first pioneers of the classic, indev, infdev, and early alpha eras.
2. The people who joined when Minecraft picked up steam in late alpha and early beta.
3. The people who joined when Minecraft became mainstream (1.8 onwards).
4. The Minecraft Xbox players, mostly between the ages of 6 and 16, reared on Call of Duty.
