1. He died.
2. Either something to do with him drinking it really fast or the ice lowered the concentration of the poison. Or gremlins.
3. They shut off the water? Either that or Gremlins.
4. The rope isn't tied to anything. (This one I actually answered fully seriously)

Now, for some questions:
1. I am taken from a mine, and shut up in a wooden case, from which I am never released, and yet I am used by almost everybody.
