I'm a 25-year-old guy who, like many of you, grew up with Minecraft. I've been playing the game for over 10 years now ! (
When I started, there weren't even gold rails yet!). I'd say that I'm part of the Builders community— or rather, my own community, since I've been building for fun on my own for several years now without sharing anything with the world.
Why are you primarily focused on the Western style?
Surprisingly, I’m not a big fan of the Western era in the sense that I didn’t grow up watching American Western movies or playing cowboy as a kid. However, it’s a theme I became interested in after the release of RDR2. I was impressed by the fidelity with which Rockstar was able to represent that era in a video game. That’s when the idea came to me:
why not try to do the same thing in Minecraft? You see, what I love about this style is that, first of all, it’s not very well represented in the Minecraft community. Additionally, it’s a style that requires some thought in terms of building. If you look at the architecture of old Wild West buildings in real life, they are often very simple constructions with not too many details. And you know that in Minecraft, a build without details and depth is a boring build. So, you need to be able to capture the Western style within the Minecraft aesthetic without going overboard, ensuring that the build stays believable and somewhat realistic.
And above all, as a graphic designer, I’m a big fan of the designs and huge typographies that can be seen on buildings from that era. So, it was an opportunity for me to combine Graphic Design, which is a passion of mine, with a game that I love, Minecraft.
My building philosophy
I'm someone who is very attached to the Vanilla aspect of Minecraft. My goal is to create with what Minecraft offers me. That's why my maps can be played without mods or resource packs and this is a rule that I particularly care about. I mainly build in a 1:1 scale. I like the idea that my constructions are consistent with the player's size. In my opinion, the interior of a building is as important as the exterior. So I make sure that all the interiors are accessible and detailed. If a player wants to get in somewhere, he has to be able to. I allow myself to occasionally use display entities, but in a balanced and thoughtful way, in order to maintain the "Minecraft style"
