They say he was removed in every update. He was never in it, it was a joke. The server message is just when you are killed in a certain way, never actually by herobrine. You can easily look thru the Minecraft code there is no mob called herobrine or anything that is not actually in the game and already used. Also no texture for herobrine in minecraft.jar
