JediJerboaNice work!... If you wish, present your ideas in the thread and we can find a place for you.

"They year is 4093 or the year of "hope" the real world is in grave danger. It is at war with itself. Humans have exhausted 98% of the worlds resources and almost all nations are in total war, fighting for what remaining resources there are. However there are a few nations who want to remain peaceful, some are just executing there own population to conserve material. Sides have been chosen and alliances have been broken.

There is a section of scientists part of the PolCor (pole-core), Preservation of Life Conservation of Resources, whose goal was to do exactly what its named, find new ways preserve life and conserve resources . PolCor has discovered a way to take real life forms and transport their DNA into the digital realm. There were no flaws or glitches found that made a huge impact. However there was a minor set back to the discovery that could save mankind. There was no place to live. You can't just send in billions of people with no home, work, or government. Polcor has gathered a few hundred settlers to settle the new realm for the human race to live.

The fate of humanity relies on you, the settlers, to found digital nations capable of supporting families and individuals and perhaps nations that prosper far more than those of the real world."

    This is my input

SampleAnd just wanna let you know. i have a Youtube channel where i make some creepy stories and stuff like that around minecraft so if you could go and check it out then i would be happy sir. But have a nice day and see you around this place !

    Hey link your YouTube channel!

And Hey OP (original poster), if you could add me on Skype (@coreymrpoop) or just elaborate here on what your actual plan is, I think that's why you've got the views but not the votes you are looking for because... and I speak for myself on this one... I don't know what your actual plan is for the in-game sci-fi convention...

    But I'm hooked.

Hey if you guys visit my site: " paradoxnations.enjin.com " you can read my "Setting the Scene" introduction to a sci-fi universe which also sort of ties in to our modern and upcoming future.

    - you will know you're reading the right thing if you can identify what the PolCor company is all about.

Please add me on Skype: coreymrpoop

SpeedyCubeFor instance, [Colored Ranks] with brackets are very unoriginal and are unprofessional. Naming your server something ending in craft is very unoriginal and is unprofessional. I'd recommend searching for a build team for a spawn as well, as players are all for the pretty spawns.

No Colored Ranks? Hmm, what do you propose would replace that? By far every server (yes, every) has had Donor and Staff ranks of some sort that had "[Colored Ranks].
I don't quite get what you are saying by NOT having them? If there is an alternative, I would love to hear it.

@OriginalPost, Do not take tips from people who currently don't Manage or help manage a Minecraft server.
The MC community changes rapidly. Just last year Hunger Games was the focus of a lot of servers, and just before that it was Factions, and not to far behind we had Towny and RolePlaying. Now you have Tens of Thousands of players looking for MiniGame servers such as Mineplex and Hypixel as someone stated above. Know why those servers are as popular as they are? Youtube. Famous Youtubers played on the respected servers and their subscribers/viewers went to the servers because they were new, fresh, and had the Youtube Celebrity on the server.

To avoid immediate server death, I suggest establishing a community through advertising, recruitment, and bringing along past friends before publicly opening the server. That way when you do go public you have people who are surely going to play and will then initiate the snowball effect in which other players will join, play, and stay because others are joining, playing, and staying. Thats really all there is to it.
I can honestly say there is no other way.
From experience my First server wasn't that impressive, however I had a lot of friends from all the servers I played on, and we all respected each other and played together, and I told them about my server and brought them on to play it (no staff positions 'given' away). Keep in mind this was my first server I was getting a lot of donations from them, raising 195 in the first week (I remember exactly because I was bragging to my Dad). I was reckless and spent the money on Steam. I didnt know what advertising was. And it was continuing on for 3 months of players inviting their friends and them inviting their friends, and so on and so forth. By this point I had over $3000 raised, but spent. Fourth month came by and I did not have votifier I just had my server posted on PMC (I didnt know about the voting process) and servers were being BOTTED by someone on PMC during this time and many server had their views bumped up to the 10's of thousands. My server happened to be one and one day I woke up, and my server was on the home page of PMC with 30,000 views (when servers were allowed on the Highlight Reel). My server was flooding with players, I was repeatedly being attacked by DOS and DdOS attacks, my server was going down constantly because I didnt know what to do. I didnt know how to solve the issues I was crossing nor could I afford a server that supported hundreds of players. MY server maxed out at 120 players for nearly 2 months before I ran out of money because I was such a dumbass . I thought I was a millionaire and was just making purchases left and right on the internet. I eventually had no money, lost 99% of the players because the server was down for 2 weeks straight. (Still do not know why). And to make the story shorter than it needs to be, I took the dedicated players from that server and 5 months later opened another server, SUAMP which has been up for over a year and is still up to this day so I can say I learned from my mistakes and both times the only reason my servers went anywhere, were because of an established community. Absolutely nothing else.

Just my opinion but I think its too late for any one to begin a new server.
Your best bet is to link up with some moderately experienced Owners/Admins and join together currently owned servers and everyone pitches in equally and everyone has access to all server related accounts (you can set your own discretion's).

Just my opinion though. Not saying I want to join servers with you because, no offense, you clearly aren't a good owner if you are asking if your staff can donate. Donating is for players who WANT to keep the server running. Purchasing through a shop such as BuyCraft or the Enjin Shop are for in-game advantages and those servers are there to make money for their personal usage. Do Not ask for donations nor purchases but instead provide incentive for a purchase.

All in all, dont start a server if you havent already. Find a server such as mine that is willing to pay the staff for dedicated work. And is successful and hosting over 120 players daily. Not asking for players (I will not provide my IP), I am saying join servers with someone else to make a Hub server. If you arent doing that, you are wasting time. Trust me. Im not being a prick or anything. Just giving you useful advice.

OppositeFrog, these kids are clearly immature. Interview them or your server wont go anywhere. Ask them for proof about their experience. Like this kid clearly wasn't co-owner on 6 servers.

Just trying to help you out. And please PM me. I am looking for a dedicated co-owner who has experience with servers. and I wasn't going to ask you but since you are going to be working with TDM and SnD I figured, well since I have a plugin that has those games (Battle-Arena) and I have a guns plugin, why not just combine servers? Right?

No because this is so unattractive it seems a bit spammy... Not to be a negative person but with this kind of set up, I don't think you are able to go far with a MC server which takes hard work and dedication. Most of all creativity.

    Good day

Well couldn't there be a different way of it being handled. I am not sure how to code but is there a possibility that maybe Paril could code it so that the way it got servers up there was different? To me it seemed like it was a different server a lot. One would get up there, stay a couple days, and a new one would take its place.

This really gave good servers a boost to go big. Its extremely hard to compete with those big servers. I.E no ordinary software company can compete with Microsoft or Apple.
