Honestly [this coming from a Canadian] McD's is by no means a bad place to start out working in the real world. There can be much more dangerous, smelly, or tiring jobs than taking someone's order and getting some money doing it. I wouldn't recommend it as a long-term job [you should be looking for an upgrade after a few months] but as a quick summer job, you could do much worse.
