Let me give you my 2 cents. As someone who is sitting in the Simmons MIT dorm right now typing this up, i'll tell you a couple of things that i've seen while being here.
4 suicides.
People crying because they failed classes
MIT is on a 5.0 grade scale, so anything below a 4.0 is basically worthless and you'll be kicked out.
This is the WORST college experience you'll ever have.
The people here are rude, 90% of the people here are socially awkward
You'll more than likely get robbed while out in Boston so, be sure not to carry valuables while you're out.
Stay away from any areas that look shady, because they will see you wearing your MIT clothes and know you're weak and easy prey to take what they want from you.
Invest in a bike if you don't want to use public transit and shitty cabs that smell like a ripe fart.
Now for the bonuses.
You'll be going to the TOP school for technology in the world, you'll have the best chance for success and 100K + pay scale. You're looking at going places, REAL places. You'll likely be accepted into an internship overseas where you will learn about how foreign countries treat Americans(usually not good).
I suggest applying for jobs your sophmore year so you ensure that you have a place when you graduate.
There is a lot more to enjoy here, if you weren't here for CPW weekend you'll want to show up for that as it shows the "highlights" of the campus and how things work here.
Now, all that being said I would NOT give up this experience for ANYTHING. This has been the best challenge I have ever had and being I graduate June 7th this will have been something I can look back on for the better half of my life and say "I completed the hardest school in the world"
This school is on a completely different level than any other college is, my only advice is. Give up any hopes of a social life, work multiple jobs in your free time and NEVER eat the food at any other dorm aside from Simmons and Next house.
If you don't know what you're getting yourself into consider this information and be prepared to struggle, A LOT.
Going into this I wish someone would have told me this information, so I figure I would be the one to share this with you.
All in all, go to MIT study hard, don't quit and make something of yourself. Congratulations on getting accepted you're one of few that will ever get the chance to say they went to MIT.
