oh yeah and this here old sumbitchin puter wit sum mamories, a gigaflop drive, and a video card that plays videos...

Being an IT professional... and certainly note wishing to make you explode in anguish... your situation actually looks suspiciously like data corruption on your computer... consider doing some hardware and software checks for your computer to confirm and/or repair any possible issues with your hard drive and operating system. If you are running Windows, then be sure to check your system for existence of malware, rogue ware, viruses, etc. As previously mentioned by others... locate, backup and then completely remove your existing .minecraft folder, delete the existing startup file and then download and install from scratch. If this still fails to resolve the issue, I can guarantee you have a software or hardware issue. Check your system's hard drive, video card and memory for possible defects. There are a number of good FREE apps you can use to do these checks.

As for crosses, whatever... I'm looking for swastika and ankt symbols... that would be far more controversial and indicate that Notch and his team are actually working indirectly with the Bildergerg Agenda to secretly take over the world. Really... why else would their game be reaching into government and education? They clearly stated at the Minecon, children could LEARN from their gaming and that goverment agencies (local municipalities) were using the game to design communities! So the existence of religious symbols would only further prove that Mojang is REALLY a new world order, disguised as a really cool game. What better way to reach the current masses?

visited the server briefly... looks promising, but obviously needs some initial controls in place to prevent unwanted actions like flying. I scooted around in the server using zombe mod (as I always do) Was told by the server owner, they do not allow hacking...

So why not do like some many servers (like mine) and simply block the fly mod (hack), if thats what you wanna do? Makes more sense..

The server does have an interesting spawn point, I guess coming in at "basement" level and then read some signs, take an "elevator" to surface or portal to another nether foyer...

Did not stay to play or chat... no time...

I'm a network specialist in the SF Bay area...
I run my own SMP server as well and fully understand the firewall networking issue. Also understand the need for a permanent (static IP address).

Most Internet subscribers DO NOT have a permanent ip address. The address they get is assigned by the service provider and usually is replaced over time based on the provider's policies for IP address assignment.

Do you know if you have a permanent IP address? This usually means you are paying your service provider an extra fee to have a permanent address.

If you do not know, then compare the IP 94.3.91.159 you listed with the result from the following website: http://whatismyip.org. If the address is exactly the same week after week, month after month, then it is possible that your service provider is simply allowing you to use the same address. On the other hand , if the address has changed, then you will NEVER have the same IP and will have to constantly check and update your server listing to show the current address.

If you are using a router (likely), then the router gets that IP from the service provider. If the router and the modem from the service provider are powered off, it is possible that will cause the IP address switch, if it is in fact changing. Some providers will not change the IP on you unless the modem is shut off for some period of time. Some might change it weekly, monthly. It simply depends on the policies of the provider.
