It's a cracked client, switch to the official one and if you haven't, purchase an account.

Not gonna lie, I play it here n there. Not as much as i used to. The new features are slowly dragging me back in because honestly Minecraft has slowly limited moders.

Windows 8 is great
I use it for gaming all the time, no issue at all.
I just created my own start button since i didn't want 8.1
