I'm so sorry this has happened :( If you're certain you don't have a backup, recovery software is the
only option.
Unfortunately,
the longer you wait, the less likely recovery software will work, since the 'free space' where your files are sitting (they're only marked as 'deleted') is available to other programs now, and it's only a matter of time until it's overwritten. If you really want your world back, you will need to give it a try or find(/pay) someone to help you with it.
I have always used PhotoRec. It is free, it's not a virus, and works well, but you might need to view a guide:

It comes with another software called TestDisk which work together. TestDisk is for the drive's partitions and file system, PhotoRec recovers deleted files.
