AntiquaThis is just my 2 cents. I don't see why people are being so hostile to someone presenting new ideas. Why can't y'all just give constructive criticism? Be civil?

Sorry to tell you this, but people are just going to grief your server to heck. Unless you moderate the server constantly, you will regret trying to publicly host a server.

    1. I suppose you know that. You're such an expert.

    2. I know that.

    3. Aaaaaaand copper wire wouldn't do that?

    4. Gold armor and tools are worthless and don't make sense, and Diamond armor and tools don't make sense.

    5. Obviously you haven't thought this through.

If I ever mod Minecraft, it'll be when the full version comes out. I'd hate to have to update my mods every time an update comes out.

Well, of course, one can just take a cave generation algorithm, constrain it to heights 64-80 and slap on caves with water downside. This will get us hanging rivers and river tunnels, along with lucky points of equality...

Exactly. And if you tweaked it a bit, you could fix the water above the ground to stay on the ground, and I think underground rivers would be cool.

That would be a pretty fun server, but if you want one like that I suggest you make friends with an experienced server creator and co-host it.

Hehe, you mean "If I were good enough to write my own game and be successful"?

Notch does what he can, considering the possibilities and problems you may have missed due to the fact you are not him... Most of stuff you request (like MOAR ITAMZ & MOBZ) are out there as mods, and Notch must have reasons not to include those mods into vanilla Minecraft. Other stuff, like rivers, is hardly doable with existing water physics and the nature of terrain generator...

Anyway, thanks for the post. Now everyone know what Minecraft would have been if

P.S.: copper < iron < bronze < steel ???? So you say iron is softer than bronze, and then say something is not realistic enough?

Are you kidding??? River's would be SO doable. They don't even have to be running water. And Notch makes HUGE cave systems, so he can make rivers.

basically you want him to incorporate finitewater(tm) into vanilla minecraft? the cave systems are randomly generated by the way, so he just needed to write a quick program for it and it was done. finite water is quite a bit more complex by my understanding.

p.s. Iron is generally harder than bronze, but variations in chemistry or impurities can vary the hardness in both materials.

stop being stupid, start being smart <3

Oh my gosh, if you want me to spell it out for you, rivers would be long strips of water. They would not be finite, they would basically be long and thin oceans. And FYI, they would be very easy to program.

Rivers are totally doable. They don't have to be running water.

Rivers are running water, that it how they get from their source to the sea, if the rivers were stationary it would defeat the purpose, I know what you mean though, it would be cool to have water that isn't the sea or a lake

Then why are you arguing with me?

    1. Me neither, but it would make for less ugly houses on servers.
    2. It would be way easier to mine than redstone, and redstone is a pain to mine, so I'm trading long mining time for more complicated crafting process. Because who uses redstone alot anyway? And the redstone geeks just hack themselves it.
    3. Why not? It would make more sense.
    4. What makes more sense: Dragon scale chainmail armor, or armor made out of diamonds?
    5. Well if you could smelt iron ingots into diamonds with enough coal, would you do it?
    6. Well he's not going to add them.
    7. They don't have to be flowing water.
    8. They haven't added that because they think it's too much work.
    9. I know.
    10. Well I would.
    11. I know, that's why ruby would be added. You could also just trade normal materials.
    12. Yes, but it would make multiplayer alot less complicated.
    13. I mean things to grow.
    14. What the heck are you talking about? Do you understand what I'm saying?
    15. Some people like to be able to do things that don't come with a huge pain in the butt. I know that adventure mode is coming.

Rivers are totally doable. They don't have to be running water, and Notch has caves and mountains that are bigger than 1 chunk.

P.S.: Yup. And if you know your knowledge, you will find that bronze is actually harder than iron.

My name started as my Xbox live name, (long story) and then it became my minecraft name because AceCRO was taken, and so now I'm just keeping it as my internet alias.

It was his tree... His very own tree that he nurtured from a tiny seed into maturity, and you DESTROYED it! How could you???
