Well, if you want to create your own map, you could begin with making some landscape with WorldPainter. It's a good way to gather ideas and inspiration for builds based on the geography of the map. For example, look at the picture attached. On the left you can see two flat areas intersected by a valley. I thought that there I could make a structure like the 'Hanging Bridge' in Winterhold, Skyrim. Then I could think of a city behind that a bit like Markarth and only accessible through the Mountain Pass. Taking a look at your terrain can really help you improvise and adapt to what you can already see.

This is a great way to get involved in something big!I don't have a high level on Planet Minecraft as I only just joined recently, but I have some good builds like castles, towers and ruins. I'm also quite skilled at using WorldPainter to create large landscapes with different materials, biomes and effects. My Skype name is raf.c.147

If you are interested and want to see more of my work reply to this comment or e-mail me, choice is yours. Also, one last question: Which country are you in? I am in the UK, and if you are anywhere else on the timezone it may be difficult for me to talk to you (when it's day here, it might be night in the US and vice versa).
