It is easy using a dedicated server in fact its easier than using shared hosting in my opinion because you have full control of the server. HOWEVER you must get a dedi with a good processor or else you will end up with a lot and I mean A LOT of lag. In fact depending on your budget I can get you a server and help you set it up. It appears as if his server is simply not running or it is firewalled. Is it just him who cant connect or can noone connect to the server? Also where/how is the server hosted?

Depending on how many plugins you have and what OS you run, it SHOULD handle about 75-80 players. That particular CPU is one of the best for a minecraft server. Now that is assuming that you either have a dedicated 100mbit connection or a gigabit connection. Your real bottleneck is your RAM. For a minecraft server, I would atleast go with 16GB but I dont know how many players you are looking to get on your server.

We are also looking for builders for the PVP portion of the server. But let me tell you a little about the server. It is actually several servers hosted on one dedicated server linked together via BungeeCord to spread out the load on the processor and because minecraft is multithreaded, each individual server can only use one core of the processor. Now on to the actual specs of the server: It is a fully dedicated server in Kansas City, Missouri, USA on a dedicated 1gbps connection. The server is running a 3.8GHz E3-1230 Processor (yes the same one used by common minecraft hosts dedicated to this server), an SSD to run the server from and a 2TB HDD for the hourly backup of all of the data files. That means if a griefer strikes and finds an unprotected area, all i have to do is load up the backup data file from just before the damage was done and viola the griefers changes have been rolled back!
