I posted something about this a few minutes ago. The servers are down due to Updates with the authentication servers, nothing more, and some servers are still up as they are doing it one continent at a time. What nationality are you guys?

DropTheBaseHey guys, first post! People have been worried about minecraft since it's multiplayer has been down for at least half a hour.

I just want to put everyone's minds at rest by saying that it is simply the authentication servers owned by Mojang that are the problem.

As you all know, 1.8 is coming out soon/now, and the authentication servers are down because they are being updated to 1.8!

They will be back up in 1 to a few hours, so unfortunately we will have to wait

Some servers still have players because they are doing the reboot 1 country at a time!

Sorry, I was wrong when I said one 'country' at a time, I was referring to the authentication servers in each area. For example, England has one that also covers most of Europe, A.K.A the 'EU' servers. Sorry!

Hey dude,

Just so you know, I have also started a thread about this, but the minecraft servers are down because 1.8, which has been anticipated for a while now, IS BEING PREPARED!

Yay! Seriously, the authentication servers are being updated, not DDoS'ed or due to the new EULA.
