Any previous writing experience? Yes. I've always had an interest in reading/writing, and in pursuit of that, I've crafted my own rpg game for my friend and I to play over long distance (military family), which included writing an overarching story line and smaller quest lines. I have also started writing my own book, and have my own game "in development." What I mean by that is, I know full well the chances of it ever actually being made, but I'm still going to write the story and design various aspects as I desire to. However, the most writing experience I have comes from being the Head Admin (the title was RPG Lead, but pretty much the same thing) on a Star Wars forum rpg. I wrote many quest lines, story arcs, pieces of history, descriptions for locations, etc. in the development of it. However, a mix of real life events and an overwhelming amount of players/lack of admins caused me to have to bow out so that someone with more time could take my place. In addition to this, I had a character in another forum rpg which involved a lot of writing as well, but only for a few characters.

proof of the website can be found here. Unfortunately, much of what I wrote is hidden away under admin only forums, but this should be enough for credibility.

(sorry if it's a little long) The next part is a memory of a dialogue between a young girl and her grandfather:

"Grandfather, tell me one of your stories!" She always loved hearing his stories. The old, wizened man would smile lovingly at his granddaughter and ask "which one would you like to hear, my darling?" This time in particular, she asked for her favorite. "Tell me about the Sun Pirate!" she pleaded. Grandfather laughed at that, took his place by the hearth, as they did every night, and began to tell the story.

"There once was a notorious pirate, known only as the Sun Pirate. Now, the Sun Pirate was no ordinary pirate, oh no. He was something entirely different, something so dreadful and dangerous, no sailor stood a chance against him! for the Sun Pirate was a dark wizard." "how did he become a pirate?" she interjected, a quizzical look on her face, to which her grandfather replied, "Oh sweetheart, that is a question that has been asked for centuries. Nobody knows. But one thing is for sure, a long time ago, before magic had receded from the world, there was indeed a dread pirate of the sun." "Why was he called that?" She would wonder. "Allow me to finish the story, and you'll find out!" He laughed. "Now, where was I? The Sun Pirate was a wizard, powerful in the arts of magic, who could sweep in on any ship and sink it without ever raising an alarm, or even losing a battle. He was so powerful, in fact, that he could make his ship fly." "like a bird?" "Yes, much like a bird. He was named the Sun Pirate, because he would sail the skies looking for prey, and when he found a tempting target, he would fly straight down at them with the sun at his back. The enemy could never see him coming! He would plunder merchant galleys, ripping their valuables from the cargo hull with his powers, and sail away without ever firing a shot! Other times he might fancy a fight, and swoop down on an armada and sink half of them, before sailing away again, back into the sun." She gave him a curious look. "Where did he store all his treasure? Every pirate hides his treasure somewhere." She said, matter-of-factly. "A good question!" Grandfather exclaimed, "Why, he hid it on his secret floating island, of course!" "But Grandfather, islands don't float." She said, thinking he was being silly. "Ah, but they do float when they are imbued with magic. And that's what this one was, it was an island the Sun Pirate lifted up off the ground, and set among the clouds high above. He would take his treasure there, and lock it away in a cave prepared with all manner of traps and contraptions." "Where is this island then? why didn't the Sky Lords find it and arrest him?" she asked, not understanding the passing of time. "The Sky Lords didn't exist then. Now, we have ships that can fly with balloons and steam, but back then, the only one's who could fly were mages. As for the island, nobody knows its location, or if it ever even was there to begin with. Many nowadays say that it's just a legend, nothing more." "But is it real, Grandfather?" "Why, my darling, of course it is." He said with a smile.

She stood there at the entrance of the cave, thinking on that moment with her long gone grandfather, smiling to herself at how much he believed in her. She couldn't believe it herself that she had actually found the island, floating in the sky, hidden away from the eyes of men by old, strong magic. Nor could she contain the excitement, the thrill of it all, that she was here a the mouth of the cave, preparing to dive inside, face mortal peril, and possibly come out rich, not just with gold, but with a new story of her own. She took a step back, whispered, "This one is for you Granddad," and jumped.
