Then there wouldn't be loads of guys wearing full diamond on PvP servers, and fights could acctually be interesting. Especcially if there were new weapons!
Melee:
Spears, Battleaxes, Knives
Ranged:
New Bows, Spears, Knives, Guns
For the ranged you could have diffrent types of bows i.e a short bow could be a faster draw but less dammage and a war bow could be a longer draw but more damage. There could also be diffrent types of arrows i.e a bodkin which dose double damage and ignores half of armour's defence.
