OpenGL 2.1 was released way back in 2006, chances are your video card supports it unless you have a really old Video card.

Looks like a good setup. I would recommend getting a power supply with min. 3 year warranty and you could likely get an 850 watt for that price. Also the video card is expensive. The Radeon 280x is virtually the same performance wise and can be found for under $400. I would also recommend getting a brand such as Gigabyte or XFX with good warranties with at least 2 fans on it.

You're probably not going to get 400fps unless you are running a small monitor. I have a 30" running at 2560x1600 with a Radeon 7970ghz (same as Radeon 280x) and it's very playable but usually around 50fps or less depending on the workload (which would be heavy with a lot of minecraft builds in one area). Also running a 256x256 resolution texture pack.

As far as an optical drive, you will have to decide whether you want a blue-ray drive or just a DVD burner (cheaper).

You'll likely have to start over again. It sounds like whatever paint program you used didn't support transparency. Try paint.net or gimp.

    Download paint.net - http://www.getpaint.net/and install.

Take the terrain.png out of the cartooncraft zipfile and open it with paint.net.

Zoom in, use the rectangle select to select the water on the bottom right...including the transparent space. Go up to 'Adjustments' and select 'Hue/Saturation'.

Adjust to likable color, click 'ok'. Save file, exit paint.net. Then put the terrrain.png back into the cartooncraft.zip, overwriting the old one.

You should be good to go if you do it right.
