I think There is something you don't understand about the last minecraft update.
This server uses 1.7.10 because 1.8 Got rid of MetaData and broke the Conquest resource pack. If you use the pack, you will understand. They have all the info and official links on their site. All 1.8 added was more chest filer no one uses anyway. I'd much rather play with the extra conquest blocks.
