I think that'd be awesome!
It'd be a safe bet to assume that it would draw in a lot more new HD skinners (if only as a one-time thing). Personally, I'd love to see what they do with a larger canvas; especially the likes of Leostereo and such pixelartists.
Imagine a pixel art skin from them at relatively small 32x or 64x resolutions... pretty neat thought!
(And really, I don't think anyone has used the HD skin canvas for such yet, and there are thousands of HD skins at this point.)

But yeah, inspiring idea creeperCarole!
If it ever gets off the ground and you folks need any help with it, let me know.

(Also, sorry it took so long so respond. I'm not really used to these forums yet and was expecting an alert or something. Derp.)

Just to clarify, as I don't think it's ever been stated for one of these contest, are HD skins permitted now that there are people making them?
(for those who don't know, HD Player skins are available through a mod, or just using them as a char.png)

If they're to even be permitted, the only real obstacle would be how to add them.
Long term, I think the most simple solution would be a skins sub-catagory that uses Screenshots instead of the PMC 3d preview.
Short term, would it possible to add the skin without file uploaded, and have the link and screenshot in the description?

I actually just updated today with 13 new ones!

They can all be downloaded from HERE

On another note, if you need better instructions on using HD skins (and believe me, you're going to be inundated with "how do I use?!"), I've got the step-by-step guide you can use HERE.
At the very least you're going to want to mention that downloading the skins isn't necessary for Online use.
Also, MCPatcher is not needed for HDPlayer Skins.
