Yes, but as I said before, those add something to the community, and as a IntroThread may add a new member (but sometimes it is an old member), most times, it is just for attention. And attention does not add anything to the community.
A) There is absolutely no way to prove they do it for attention, so that can only be your opinion.
B) The PC specs can be interpreted as the same thing "Hey look at me with my expensive PC"
C) Threads asking for people to join a server/check out a submission/asking about PC specs don't contribute anything at all to the community themselves. All they do is ask things of the community.
1) However, they do often spark discussions in their threads.
2) The same can be said for introductory threads.

Is that why most introductory threads usually contain questions to the OP? If I wasn't interested in getting to know someone, I wouldn't bother asking questions pertaining to their lives.
Maybe.
And you may be intrigued by what the OP has to say, or about his/her life, but that doesn't mean that the threads don't come around a lot.
As do all the other damn threads about PC Specs, new servers, skins, mods, etc.

Edit: You claimed that introductory posts are less interesting than actual interesting topics. Thus making TT's "valid point incoming" invalid
GG50PhaseGG50
While that may apply to some, most people around here genuinely are not interested with people grabbing for attention.

Allergy_ManPhaseAnd be sure to vote! As the votes you know... got reset... and most the people who were on my side are in a different time zone... so I got no one to back me up!It's a good suggestion, and should definitely be thought about.
-ATOM-Phase-ATOM-So we revert to interesting topics and ignore new members who are willing to introduce themselves? This will make them feel rather left out.
If the "Last 20 Posts" consists mostly of introductory posts, why not go more specific for the thread you are looking for? (i.e. A member is looking for a Build team that is willing to recruit builders, why not look at the Recruitment and Teamwork forum?)
I do know that there are others, however, who are just looking for interesting topics of discussion. They can either look at the "Last 20 Posts" or go more specific by either going to General Discussion, Minecraft Discussion, etc. (Similar to above paragraph)
If these topics are "interesting", they have a higher chance of luring replies. Such as this thread. This will enable them to stay at the "Last 20 Posts" widget.
If someone feels left out, they can always go to the chat. That is the most welcoming place on this site.
If it consists mostly of introductory posts, then why wouldn't I go for them? They are "hogging" room from the interesting threads.
Yes, I could just go to the Discussion section itself, but every time I click on a thread, what do I see in the top right corner? An introduction thread!
Then what's the point of an introductory forum? Most new members don't even introduce themselves in chat, but rather in the Introduction forum itself.
Interesting topics will hog the L20P area. As mentioned before, these "interesting" topics have a higher chance of receiving replies.
If you wished to head to the Discussion forum, why even bother to look at the Last 20 posts if you went to go more specific on your search of interesting topics?
