I agree, I saw the movie too, something devastating could happen, I live in Kansas, no where near an ocean, or a tectonic plate. But if the San Andreas fault would "blow" much, MUCH more than California, or even the west coast, would be in trouble.
Much of the buildings in the midwest, and the east are not built to withstand earthquakes, now that I think about it, if the San Andreas fault were to go, this could be a massive devastation to the United States, and not only would it affect it here, it would affect the whole entire world.
It would be a series of chain reactions, first most of the buildings around the united states would be severely damaged, and possibly grounded. Our crops, and natural resources would stop for a long time, and a lot of the world depends on the United States natural resources.
If the San Andreas fault were to "blow" you're right, this is something we all need to think about, and possibly make plans for.
