Alrighty, so.... The general concept of the hunger games is appealing to everyone, whether they read the books or not. But, not everybody can completely appreciate if it is themed around the books. Just putting that out, so perhaps that is the reason most people voted for it? I personally voted because I love PLAYING the hunger games (never read the books (but I have seen the movies...)), and the idea of something outside of minecraft is very appealing. RIGHT NOW, the only idea(s) I have are something along the lines of different characters. Each character can have different stats, such as speed, strength, durability, etc. You can buy some characters from a shop, with money you win from winning the hunger games. There can be higher tier, and lower tier matches, which differ in difficulty, length, prize money, etc. I don't know if any of this is feasible, but you have been looking for ideas, HERE YOU ARE!!!! Feel free to use/tweak them any way you want
