I don't know why but a lot of people have misconceptions about Hinduism.firstly we only worship one god called the Brahman.all the gods and goddesses we worship are just manifestations of this deity.just like the biblical god the Brahman is a formless, ultimate reality.and when we worship idols,we do not worship the rocks themselves but we worship the god.the idol is nothing but a tool to focus on the divine.
Some clever people may talk about the caste system.well tho the caste system is described in the vedas it did not say t discriminate people based on it.practices like untouchability came later as the elites of older times slowly warped the meaning the vedas gave to control people.and NO WE DON'T WORSHIP 330 million gods! And for people who are pointing their fingers at texts like the manusmriti, well the manusmriti was not written by our sages nor was it a revelation from brahman it was written by the previously mentioned elites to control people.when the British came to India they searched for hindu rule books so that they can dominate the locals with their own rules.then they found manusmriti and used it to justify their domination.the manusmriti is not a holy book of Hinduism as some people may think.

There is no definite holy books in Hinduism.texts like the vedas, Upanishads,puranas,the Ramayana and Mahabharata and the bhagawat gita are all considered holy or sacred in our religion.
