Well, I am white, so I cannot speak on race related issues too much, but I would believe it's safe to assume that most BIPOC seek community with others of their race or minority-status for the same reasons. I've spent enough time around most other white people to know that if I was black, I wouldn't feel safe around them either despite how "nice" they are to me. And I would personally understand if someone would rather make friends or date another person of color over myself. There is reliability and culture that I cannot share with those people and if that cultural relevance is important to them, I think it's very valid.
