If you want to see where Minecraft might go, look at PAC-MAN. It's a video game almost universally regarded as a classic that came out 34 years ago now. It still has a big playerbase because it has been ported to all sorts of platforms. If I went around asking young people if they had played PAC-MAN a lot of them would say yes. If I went around asking people if they have played the original arcade machine only a few would say yes. Minecraft isn't just going to fizzle out in the next year or two. The PC edition may, but Pocket Edition and console versions are still going strong. Because it has been ported to so many devices, new players will discover it and play it on their who-knows-whats. I'm not saying I like all these ports, but they are sure gonna keep Minecraft alive for a good long time.

xXSlayXxJnaeJnae, what is your point anymore? Are you trying to get all of us Java players to go play Windows 10 or PE? Are you trying to convince us that Minecraft already has a sequel, in the different forms it has already made? Your points aren't making any sense, rather than actually try to discuss something with us, your just popping in and out of the topic, arguing over minor or even unrelated points.

Hey, maybe Minecraft: Story Mode is the sequel

    Jedi,
Yes they made 1.9 more skill based, but the controls are unwieldy. Combat should be skillful and satisfying. Why couldnt they take some inspiration from popular sword fighting games like Chivalry Medieval warfare or Darksouls? They could have added popular mechanics like staggering a bit if your attack is blocked, combat rolls, or charged attacks. They could have made it equally as prediction and timing based without some pseudo cooldown on the basic attack.

No there are zero games with a cooldown on your basic attack but you can attack before its ready to do reduced damage. Try playing any sword game, ever. A slower firing speed would have been more simple, effective, and easy to control, while offering the same amount of timing.

If you love this kind of stuff, either get a mod for it or start playing that kind of game. As has been stated before by multiple people here, vanilla Minecraft is a game about building and exploring, not realistic fighting mechanics.

I don't think it would even be possible too make a Minecraft 2. Minecraft isn't like a Grand Theft Auto or a Call of Duty where you can make game after game after game and still have a massive playerbase - Minecraft is timeless. There is a huge community out there with all sorts of mods and texture packs (although much of it is inactive now) and it is regularly updated by Mojang, so you can have whatever you want really. In many video game sequels the main improvements are graphics (well, part of Minecraft's charm is the blocky world, and there are texture packs) and a new storyline (Minecraft doesn't even have a storyline, also part of its popularity). Will Minecraft die out? Not completely, or at least not anytime soon. Will the concept die out? Never.

I think Bernie Sanders could have won against Trump had he won the Democrat nomination because he was aiming at the same kind of people who got Trump over the line (the working class).

They would never put that in Minecraft (unless Mojang was bought by -snip-b).
