I didn't try to apply my experience to populations. I am only using my experience as a sample to others. As I stated repeatedly, my experience is only one case. In my very first sentence, I recognized the fact that personal experience is not something that holds up in a debate. I also made no assumptions about you overgeneralizing, my response wasn't even directed at you, again, as I stated. I never made any claim that anything I said was more correct than anything you said. My choice was more correct FOR ME and some others out there. My only reason for even responding at all is so I can be someone who said "College isn't for everyone, and it wasn't for me. Here's why:". If someone can relate then they might make the decision not to go to college.

Personal experience can't stand up in a debate, but (in this situation) here is why it matters:
Going to college is a personal choice, it isn't a law. It is relatively common for what might come of personal choices to be rated. On google you can rate your experience at physical locations, including colleges. Everything that I said is just me rating my own experience. A single 1 star review may not matter a ton, but it allows people to make inferences about their own experience. So, you said, "if anything I advocate for understanding niches and outliers, so that's why I'm a bit annoyed by you assuming it's based on experience.", but providing some understanding of an outlier is exactly what I'm doing. I'm not trying to say that anything, except for my opinion, is based on my experience.

Since you had the audacity to make incorrect claims about what was said in my response I'm going to state where you were wrong:

You: "Experience is just a sample, usually you have to look at studies for populations"
Also You:"...try to draw conclusions from your own experience and try to apply it to populations."
Me:"...this is just me so you may have a far better experience or you may not be knowledgable in some areas so all this may not apply to you"
Also me: "My purpose is to just share my opinion so that you can better form your own."

You:"...stop making this like something that I'm personally basing it off of"
Me: Nowhere did I say anything remotely like that; the only time I referred to your reply was when I said I wasn't speaking directly to you.

You:"...I hate it when people assume I overgeneralize..."
Me: Nowhere did I assume that, you're just assuming that I'm assuming.

Also, don't call me "buddy". I'm not your buddy. I've said all I need to say so even if you respond to this I'm not going to reply, no matter how stupid the contents of your response are.

My opinion is based on my personal experience so there isn't much point in debating, you may have had a better experience. In my case (and from my perspective) the material that was taught to me in many of my courses was almost completely useless in any practical sense, let alone for a career. Some of my professors even taught blatantly incorrect practices. Due to the increased job security and pay that comes with having a degree, I can't say that it's always the wrong choice, but it certainly was the wrong one for me. I tried it though. I care a lot about the education of the general population because I think it is the best way for a country to make progress, but the US education system is total garbage, even at the college level. I've sought out valuable knowledge from a number of sources that led me to learn many skills so I can say with a level of certainty that a good portion of the knowledge gained at college is relatively worthless (Again, this isn't always 100% true).

Again this is just me so you may have a far better experience or you may not be knowledgable in some areas so all this may not apply to you. There are some careers that you just can't get or won't be able to do without higher education, doctors for example. My purpose is to just share my opinion so that you can better form your own. (not speaking directly to CHorse, just anyone reading). Citing my own experiences is far more work than even listing sources and this would be at least twice as long so I'm not going to bother.

I totally agree. I've never met anyone that actually understood that which has always shocked me. I even thought high school was a total waste so I spent all my class time teaching myself. Good to know that there is someone out there who gets it.

Im not so sure this is a proper way to respond. I've been gaming since I was 4, and games are exactly that, meant for younger age groups. If you havent noticed, most of Minecraft's players are under the age of 15, which is to be expected of a game like this. Being staff can teach someone skills in leadership, no matter the age, even though the maturity they lack can pose as a huge obstacle, but its an obstacle they should learn to overcome.

    What is your skype?(Required!) Infinity5770
    How old are you?15
Which of the below are you best at? 1
    (1) Configing
    (2) Building
    (3) Developing Plugins
How could you help the server improve? By voting as much as I can, supporting the server every way I can. I am dedicated enough to play hours and hours a day and do as much as I can as quick as possible.
Staff Rank applying for? Developer, nothing less
Why should we pick you over the rest? I've had years of experience and been staff on hundreds of servers, I am absolutely qualified for this position as staff. I know almost all the ins and outs of runnings servers, thats all there is to say.
Why do you want to become staff? I love helping servers reach their full potential so I can see how theyd turn out after that, helping servers evolve is a difficult but fascinating experience.
What can you do? Anything but redstone.
Extra? I am not clambering to be staff on any server, all I want to do is have fun doing it even though it is difficult.

I'm not going to post "proof" as that would be blacklisting people as i would have to post peoples blogs, which i wont be doing. You can go and look for yourself as its being repeatedly posted in blogging section, i'm not going to blacklist members.
As for your opinion on my blog you clearly haven't even read it.

Could you actually read what i put before commenting and trying to paragraph at me? You seem to have just read the first sentence from each one of my points and missed the whole topic completely. I'm not saying they shouldn't say anything or that they can simply resolve the issue in the case of actual bullying. I'm also not ranting, that would be the blogs i am talking about. I am talking about both sides of the argument and i am trying not to offend people, maybe you should change the tone of how you read things? I'm not going to formally lay it as this out and add proof as i have already explained. Nor am i going to respond to you formally as i have no need to, i save that for times i actually need to rather than worrying over a point on a Minecraft site.

I feel you have misunderstood me, please reread my response again so as to get a better feel of what I have said. I didn't mean you were intentionally offending anyone, only that by using the opinionated words you did people may have misinterpreted and the intended audience most likely consists of those of "lower" age. This is where formality as you say is unimportant in matters on a Minecraft website matters, though the topic you mention can be very heavy with some even though it's not the priority of your post. Your title for example, do you think if someone saw that title that wrote one of those blogs would have a positive feeling about it (though you do provide statements defending them)? I never meant for you to outright quote someone's blog about this subject as that would be humiliating them, only that you say something such as: "I've heard people say...". then state what you think of that. It provides a clearer perspective for those who haven't experienced what you have. If there is anything you are further unclear about, feel free to reply, however I do not appreciate nor deserve disrespect.

    Thank you

Well I think you got carried away, you have to use formality instead of outright disgracing something. Claim, CLEAR evidence (for those who are younger or of lower intellect), and reasoning. It gets through to people much better than ranting as I myself have discovered. The only criticism that I accept is constructive criticism because there is no reason to complain about something that you chose to view and therefor you should stop viewing it if you dislike it. Many people complain and belittle people on the internet because that is the only place some feel they have authority, I am not talking about you just providing more explanation behind constructive criticism. You have to support EVERY separate comment about something so people understand you have reason to make that comment.

Now for my opinion on your blog.
These people who post blogs about bullying, they do indeed look to the internet for like-minded people and find them but I see no reason why you would complain and disgrace them further. Many of them may not have the self confidence to fight bullying as you say they should because of the fact it was lowered by bullying. Let them complain in peace is what I think, there are many kinds people I would complain about but I don't see what positive outcome would come from this. These victims of bullying feel more excluded in the world they feel comfort in because of you distancing them by complaining about their blogs so that makes them feel excluded in reality and the internet and that is no way helping them. To summarize this, let them be. I expect a reply from you in an informal way are a formal way simply because I mentioned I expected an informal one, in either case I do not take this blog as expression of your personality as in I do not think any less of you because I myself have done this before but corrected it. This is as I said constructive criticism.

    Thank you

Well most likely your server has a hacked, glitched, or outdated plugin somewhere. It's hard to pinpoint what is actually causing this due to the fact I have no access to any of the info but what you can really do is try to delete some ftp files that have to do with the plugins instead of deleting the plugins themselves and make sure you have a backup of the world somewhere. No offense but your post isn't very specific about what mods are messing up and what mod that can be updated. I dont suggest even trying to update any mods at this point unless everything is backed up. It will most likely not fix anything but its possible, I just expect the worst with technology and programming. If you have any backups of the server when it worked I suggest rolling it back, the players would much rather have lost some progress then the entire thing.

MGB_I wouldn't say Minecraft's community as a whole isn't dying so much, however I think PMC's is slightly on the down.
I would mainly attribute this to what people have said before, much of the older players have moved on, leaving younger people who arent mature enough to keep a community such as this alive, and who cant do amazing projects and great skins. Or write a legible forum post.

I'm surprisingly mature for my age (13), although my buildings absolutely suck, I can code java and make somewhat good skins, also I'm learning how to make resource packs and I'm not a noob at redstone! (that's a lie) but I have made a few command block tutorials and making a real working basketball game/stadium, but what do I know I'm just one guy I'd be an admin or moderator if I was one of the few who could keep PMC alive. (See to prove I'm mature for my age look at my commas and proper grammar! I even use periods.)

If you comment on the fact that you are mature and give proof of it that proves you are immature because you could have only used correct grammar and punctuation to "prove" it...you cant just be like "SEE Im mature cuz I did dat!"...people are supposed to look and find out themselves as long as they arent idiots which you shouldnt care what they think anyway. I also think there is some way you are not mature, for example your social skills due to what Ive already said. You dont have to be mature at 13 bro, 15 more so.

Minecraft for me has declined as the years of it have dragged on, update after update. I actually enjoy playing minecraft 1.2.5 just as much as 1.8 somehow...maybe its the simplicity of it versus complexity.I have definitely noticed a huge decline in server quality, new servers are made about every 5 minutes and 95% of them are very low quality servers without good builds or good owners, and they have op kits which is totally unessential due to the fact the goal of the game is to get that stuff legit for yourself. 3% are decent servers that have experienced owners and good quality and builds but there is always a chink in the armor somewhere. 2% are legit minecraft servers with astoundingly good owners and staff with good and popular but legit plugins. I truly like these servers but none I have found have much relation to how minecraft was a few years ago... theres just always something different I cant point out. I rant about this a lot but the forum readers gotta deal with it because all I want is minecraft how it was not how it is... No new servers I have ever been on have ever come to anything either they just shut down after a few months because the players that are dedicated leave because they have every item in the game and the owner goes into a corner and cries waiting for his server to run out of funds. That is how I view minecraft. Go ahead and criticize my ranting all you want people seem to love doing that to my posts, but I know there are a few people who agree.
