When do you started to make mods: I started making mods a month ago but published them on planetminecraft later on. I have been programing java for 5 or 6 years now (also some 3d too but not with the lightweight engine), but only recently interested myself in modding for minecraft.
Speciality (terrain gen, mobs...): I am very interested in adding new structures to the game, in a way to make it into an rpg style thing. I'm also interested in new functionality for tools and weapons as well as other items, changing the gameplay.

I'm kind of new with this modding thing, but I was surprised on how much one can tweak the minecraft code. If I don't get accepted I understand as I'm kind of new.
One last thing, at the moment I have only been working with making mods for standalone uses, not using forge/modloader as a base. Maybe in the future I'll start implementing the forge API.
