The mod will be made for Beta 1.7.3 or 1.8.1 haven't really decided yet.
Regarding the trading, The trading system will most likely be remade from scrath so some of your trading suggestions most likely wouldn't work although I'll keep them in mind

Not in any way I can think of at the moment although feel free to give suggestions to ways I could implement a story aspect to the game.

Strawberrypickle01This sounds quite interesting. I think maybe having the dragon go through a life cycle, I mean growing up, would be pretty cool. I also think the idea of being able to name your own dragon once you get it would be cool. (I mean naming them without a name tag. Sort of like when you "hatch" the egg you get the dragon and you then can name it)
