Well, the char.png trick explained before is an option, but that will also change the way other players (if you play on cracked servers) look. I used that trick a lot though.

Create a new skin in MCSkin3D, then press the increase resolution button (above the list with skins), and you're done!

I don't make texture packs, but qwertysam has made templates for all resolutions:

I think it might be one of the problems i always had. It might've happened that you zipped the folder containing the files instead of zipping the files itself.

I'm not sure if this is the problem, but when i tried making a pack i ''zipped'' the folder containing the files, but you need to zip the files itself together. Just saying.

I think that minershoes is outdated... It's still in the 1.8 mode where the bottom of the head, the hand and the feet are turned. So i highly recommend McSkin3D made by our own Paril and it's just awesome and useful.
