This isn't just a problem with datapacks : if you look at the popular section of Texture Packs, half of it is 10-minute PvP recolor default edits. My biggest texture project has around 400 DLs, wheras my shit-tier PVP default edit i made in a few hours has more than 2K. It's strange how PMC really likes low effort stuff.
Bedrock can never compare with the costumizabilty that Java has. Realms however, is an excellent system for quick multiplayer with friends that java does not have. Then agian, java is exellent for big network servers. I could go for hours on how many good things that they both have, but simply, Bedrock is more gameplay-oriented, while Java has a massive technical aspect.
That being said, if java had movable block entities it would be the best platform.
