I think I misread your post.

Try following this format with PermissionsEx:
http://paste.md-5.net/kuboqukupa.sm

I did a few groups for you. Running this should work as it's the same way I have my server setup.

I would assume that the spelling mistake is also used in the compiled JAR and that when it looks for the config settings, it can't locate it because you changed the spelling.

I suggest you change it back to the way it was, and you should have no problems.
