Minecraft/Modding New modder - the best place to start?

I've been modding for a while now. I used tutorials, but essentially taught myself. I used notepad++ when I first started, but soon learned java eclipes is by far the best program I've used,

Tekkit Experience: I've been playing tekkit ofr months now know alot about all the mods, expecially about railcraft, buildcraft, IC2, and EE.
Admin Experience: I've never been an Admin on a server, but I have been looking for a slot somewhere. I have hosted my own servers a few times.

yes you can. without it you will be disconnected for not having the proper mods.

tekkit is a series of mods combined into one.......sorta its kinda hard to explain. Tekkit runs a completely new version of the game that does not mess with .minecraft folder. Check it out at technicpack.net
