80's child here, I grew up listening to Rap, Hiphop, R&B, Garage, House, Dance, Club, Euphoria and all sort, but asked this exact question the other day to a fellow 80's child.
Music died 1999 at 12 midnight. After that it starts going down hill.
Its like how many times can the same words be rhymed, to the same riffs and rhythms, with the same meanings.
if i am honest i like some club, house and garage songs that come out but everything else, especially rap, hip hop, pop just sucks big time, Most of my music collection stops after the 2000's I get the odd song for my SD card in my truck but most of its all old school.
Our parents probably had these same conversations when they hit a certain age.
