  I see most of you are already aware or suspect this, but I just wanted to confirm that yes, we were and are currently experiencing a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. A DDoS attack is when someone tries to overwhelm a website with so much fake traffic, coming from all around the globe, that it becomes too slow or even stops working for everyone else. It started on August 27th around 1 pm and essentially made our website unreachable for 33 hours until various changes were implemented to get us out of the dark.
  
  We understand how frustrating this has been, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Our team has been working through the nights to implement various methods across multiple services to mitigate the attack and strengthen our defenses against any future incidents. In the long run, this will make us stronger and more resilient going forward on a normal day to day basis.
  
  Please know that we are closely monitoring the situation and continuously tuning our systems to ideally prevent further disruptions. We appreciate your patience.
